Trade unions in Luxembourg have formally requested Health and Social Security Minister Martine Deprez to initiate an audit of the Mutualist Medical and Supplementary Fund (CMCM) amid escalating tensions and leadership disputes.

Trade unions are troubled by the controversy engulfing the leadership of the Mutualist Medical and Supplementary Fund and have requested answers from the Martine Deprez, the Minister of Health and Social Security. As reported by RTL Today last week, tensions have erupted at the CMCM due to an internal leadership row. In an initial reaction, Minister Deprez commented that she would be keeping a close eye on the unfolding situation.

In a joint letter published on Monday morning, the Independent Luxembourg Trade Union Confederation (OGBL) and the Luxembourg Confederation of Christian Trade Unions (LCGB) have now request from the Minister that an audit be conducted at the CMCM to determine whether the concerns already highlighted in an internal report back in 2022 are true. The trade unions further believe that the interests of the fund's employees and its ensured individuals must be prioritised and protected at all costs.

With nearly 300,000 members, the CMCM is the largest mutual fund in Luxembourg. A number of concerned CMCM members reached out to the trade unions to ask questions about the alleged rumours surrounding the CMCM leadership.
