A 43-year-old man died in an apartment fire in Bonnevoie late Sunday night, prompting a response from emergency service teams from across the country.

An apartment fire on Rue de Wiltz in the capital's Bonnevoie district, which erupted at 11.37pm on Sunday, has left a 43-year-old man dead. Emergency service teams from Luxembourg City, Hesperange, Esch-sur-Alzette, and Hobscheid were called to the scene to hep extinguish the flames, with efforts lasting into the early Monday morning hours.

During the operation, firefighters found and recovered the body, as new reports have unveiled.

As the building is no longer inhabitable, the other residents have been relocated by the municipality of Luxembourg City. The prosecutor's office has in the meantime commissioned a police investigation into the cause of the fire.
