On Saturday night, the police put an end to quite an unusual sight: a drunken man taking a joyride in a forklift while another followed suit in a car.
While some people enjoy a Saturday night party, others opt for more unconventional activities. Grand Ducal police were summoned to Betrange last night to intervene in a rather peculiar situation.
Shortly before midnight, a witness contacted the police to report that two "young men" were operating a forklift in Rue de l'Industrie in Bertrange.
Upon their arrival on the scene, the police patrol intercepted and examined the driver of the construction machine who was also being being followed by a car. When questioned by the officers, the first individual claimed to have found the vehicle with the keys inside, deeming it reason enough for an impromptu joyride.
To make matters worse, the individual operating the forklift had already received a driving ban. The second individual, his brother following in the car, lacked a valid driving license. Both were found to be under the influence of alcohol and the evening concluded with an official report and the confiscation of the car.
