A series of drink-driving incidents resulted in the withdrawal of several driving licences on Friday night, according to police reports.

In Kayl, shortly after 8pm, a driver collided with a parked car at the roadside. Subsequent breathalyser testing confirmed that the driver was inebriated, leading to the immediate surrender of their driving licence.

A similar occurrence took place in Esch-sur-Alzette approximately 90 minutes later. Here, the impact was so severe that the parked vehicle involved was propelled several meters into a nearby wall, resulting in significant material damage. The driver, found to be under the influence of alcohol, sustained minor injuries and was transported to a hospital, and their driving licence was revoked.

In the Ville-Haute neighbourhood of Luxembourg City, just before midnight, police intercepted an individual attempting to drive despite clear signs of intoxication. Prompt action by patrol officers prevented a potential hazard, although the driver's licence was confiscated.

Near an event in Warken, a driver collided with two parked vehicles around 2.30am. A police patrol was already present on site and heard the accident. The officers asked the driver to leave their car, which they did, but only after driving another few metres. The disoriented driver, smelling strongly of alcohol, was required to surrender their licence.

In Pétange, at approximately 5am, police encountered a motorist whose vehicle was parked with hazard lights activated. Investigation revealed the driver had fallen asleep at the wheel after attempting to drive home while intoxicated. The driver's licence was promptly revoked upon testing positive for alcohol.

Additionally, a significant alcohol check operation ordered by the public prosecutor's office in Livange at a supermarket yielded six positive alcohol tests out of 50 drivers stopped between 1am and 2.30am. Four driving licences were seized as a result. Earlier, in Bettembourg near the local park, police conducted checks on approximately 100 drivers between 10.30pm and midnight, resulting in a single fine issued.

In other incidents reported by police, burglaries were documented in Hollerich, Schrassig, Merl, Bergem, Steinsel, and Hesperange.
