The Grand Duchy reported a 51% decrease in coronavirus infections during the final week of 2023 compared to the preceding week.

Official figures released on Thursday by the Ministry of Health revealed a total of 338 recorded cases of Covid-19 from 25 December to 31 December. Health authorities attribute this decline to the holiday season at the year's end, a trend that mirrors a similar decrease observed during the corresponding period the previous year.

Additionally, a modest reduction in influenza cases was observed in the same week, with 332 reported cases compared to the previous week's 375, reflecting a 16% decrease.

The Grand Duchy also witnessed a significant drop in cases of the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) during the final week of 2023. The number of individuals testing positive for RSV fell by 45%, declining from 141 cases to 77.
