Currently representing Luxembourg at the IMF, Michel Scholer is to be named Luc Frieden's right-hand man.
The Chief of Staff, one of the highest-ranking officials in the government, coordinates all of the Prime Minister’s important duties.
Before Scholer moved to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, the young man worked as an attaché in the Ministry of Finance. The position of the Luxembourgish representative at the IMF has since been newly advertised.
Under Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, Jeff Feller served as Chief of Staff. The DP politician replaced Paul Konsbrück in 2021, who became the CEO of Luxconnect.
This is the second important staff decision in the immediate circle of Prime Minister Frieden: a month ago, Christine Goy was appointed as the new Secretary-General of the Ministerial Council. Ms. Goy replaces Jacques Flies, who took on a new position at the new Luxembourgish Embassy in Seoul, South Korea. Jacques Flies served as Secretary-General of the Ministerial Council for nearly four years.
