At the annual Luxembourg Sports Gala, Patrizia van der Weken and Leandro Barreiro were crowned Sportswoman and Sportsman of the Year, with the national men's football team taking the Team of the Year honour and Luc Holtz securing Coach of the Year.

In a ceremony organised by the Luxembourg sports press on Thursday evening, the annual Awards Night celebrated outstanding achievements in the world of sports.

Patrizia van der Weken (track & field) was named Sportswoman of the Year in 2023. The men's title went to Leandro Barreiro (football) and the Luxembourg national men's football team won the team of the year award. Coach of the Year was once again Luc Holtz (football). The award winners were chosen by the members of the sports press.

Sportswoman of the year

Patrizia van der Weken emerged as the Sportswoman of the Year for 2023. Securing 360 points, she narrowly edged out triathlete Jeanna Lehair, who garnered 346 points.

Marie Schreiber claimed the third spot with 220 points, as decided by the members of the sports press.

Sportsman of the year

Leandro Barreiro (football) clinched the title of Sportsman of the Year with a commanding 415 points. He had a comfortable lead over show jumper Victor Bettendorf (223 points).

Footballer Anthony Moris took third place with 168 points, closely followed by track and field athlete Charel Grethen with 165 points.

Team of the year

The Luxembourg national men's football team secured the Team of the Year award, amassing 451 points. They outshone the table tennis duo Ni Xia Lian and Sarah De Nutte, who accumulated 211 points.

The archery duo Skholna/Seywert claimed the third spot with 191 points.

Coach of the year

Luc Holtz (football) was once again voted Coach of the Year, receiving 428 points. Arnaud Starck, the coach of Patrizia van der Weken and Victoria Rausch, secured the second position with 264 points. Ken Diederich, coach of the men's national basketball team, claimed the third spot with 226 points.
