Luxembourg's newly appointed Justice Minister made her debut at the European Justice and Home Affairs Council in Brussels on Monday, focusing on a landmark law for victims' rights and engaging in key discussions with her German and Belgian counterparts and the EU Justice Commissioner.

On the agenda were, among other things, a new law on the rights of victims, designed to "amend and strengthen the existing minimum rules of the victims' rights directive, which makes sure victims of a crime receive support, access to information, can seek justice and obtain compensation", according to the website of the EU Council.

Minister Margue used the opportunity of the Council to also meet with Marco Buschmann and Paul Van Tigchelt, her counterparts from Germany and Belgium, respectively. She also had a meeting with Didier Reynders, the European Commissioner for Justice.
