With just one month remaining before the legislative elections, the Chamber of Commerce has presented a series of key demands aimed at bolstering national competitiveness and supporting economic growth in uncertain times.

The Chamber of Commerce's catalogue of demands includes the reform of the system of automatic indexation of salaries simplifying to a single indexation per year. It should also be capped above a certain level of income while decreasing beyond that. Businesses are also calling for the corporate tax rate (25%) to be lowered to the European average of 22%. The Chamber of Commerce would like to see the creation of a public investment fund to support entrepreneurship. It is also calling for the implementation of the previously announced administrative simplification. Businesses are calling for a genuine strategy to be put in place to attract and retain talent in Luxembourg.

While companies are open to a more flexible organisation of work, they are ruling out any reduction in working hours.

Other demands include a better housing policy with measures to encourage private investment in the creation of new housing. In terms of mobility, better infrastructure is needed.

The Chamber of Commerce underscores the importance of controlling public deficits while at the same time highlighting the need to focus on innovation in the context of the ecological transition which should be seen as an opportunity.
