A man in Luxembourg City reported being assaulted and robbed by a stranger, only for his own driving license to be confiscated after it was revealed he had driven to the police station while under the influence of alcohol.
A man visited a police station on Wednesday morning to report an assault he had experienced earlier in the Gare district of Luxembourg City. According to the man's account, at approximately 5am, he allowed an unfamiliar individual into his car who requested a ride home.
However, upon reaching Rue Charles Six, the passenger demanded the driver to stop and brandished a knife, while a second suspect joined the scene. They forcibly removed the driver from his vehicle and made off with his laptop. As a result of the attack, the man sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation.
Upon registering the complaint, the police officers had suspicions about the victim's state, considering whether he might have been under the influence of alcohol. A breathalyser test confirmed the presence of alcohol in his system.
Since the victim had driven his own car to the police station to file the report, his driving licence was withdrawn.
The assault case is currently under investigation.
