According to the newspaper Tageblatt, teachers at the secondary school in Bonnevoie expressed disappointment with its current direction.
As a result, the teachers called for an emergency meeting with the Ministry of Education to address their concerns.
The school is currently facing several issues, particularly in handling pupils with challenging behavior. Staff members feel the need for clear rules and guidelines in these situations, which seem to be lacking at Lycée Technique Bonnevoie.
One of the points of contention, as reported by Tageblatt, involves the handling of detention. Currently, if a teacher assigns detention, they are also responsible for supervising the student. However, there will soon be changes, and supervising teachers will rotate.
Clearer guidelines for detention handling are expected to be developed by September.
To address the disagreements between the faculty staff and the board members, an emergency meeting took place. Participants included the chief of staff from the Ministry of Education, representatives from the labor union for education and science (SEW), and the school board members.
Rumours circulated that the board members would be replaced, but the Ministry confirmed that this was not the case. It was previously announced by the school's director, a few months before the current problems arose, that she intends to re-orient herself professionally.
The Ministry is now seeking a new solution.
