Petition crosses thresholdMore than 5,000 signatures in favour of banning virginity certificates

RTL Today
A new petition has surpassed the required threshold of 4,500 signatures necessary for it to be debated in the Chamber of Deputies.

More than 5,000 people have signed Petition No 2755 calling for a ban on the issuance of virginity certificates.

Several associations have publicly expressed their support for this initiative. Virginity certificates are issued by doctors at the request of the families of young girls or women. For the petitioners, these certificates infringe upon the freedom and dignity of young women.

Before scheduling the parliamentary debate, the Parliamentary Petitions Committee will assess the validity of the collected signatures. It should be noted that the debate itself cannot take place until the next parliamentary term.
