On World Hypertension Day, global statistics concerning high blood pressure were unveiled, highlighting Luxembourg's unfavourable standing.
The data revealed that one in three adults in the Grand Duchy grapples with high blood pressure, and among individuals over 60 years old, the figure rises to a staggering two in three. This places Luxembourg in an unfavourable position on the international stage when it comes to hypertension.
The ramifications of high blood pressure can be severe, potentially leading to cardiovascular issues, strokes, or even diabetes.
To address this growing concern, the Ministry of Health has shared some guidance on its website. It advises individuals to monitor their weight, reduce salt and alcohol intake, refrain from smoking, manage stress levels, and engage in regular physical exercise. Additionally, it is crucial to schedule annual blood pressure check-ups with a healthcare professional.
