The Association of Doctors and Dentists (AMMD) gave a press conference on Monday to criticise the 'éSanté' digitalisation process in the healthcare sector, which they say is unfavourable for patients.
According to the AMMD, the initial phase of the digitalisation process focused primarily on immediate payments, which they say is mostly a simplification in procedures for the National Health Fund (CNS) rather than for patients. The Association thus proposed to introduce a mobile app that would allow people to take care of every step of the process, from taking appointments to the final payment of their bills.
The AMMD also criticised that an electronic signature of documents in shared patient files is not always requested, which can lead to problems as said documents might lack validity when used outside of the app. The Association further made the case that it should be possible to digitally document treatments that patients receive outside of Luxembourg.
These improvements should urgently be implemented so that patients gain trust in the digitialisation process, concluded the AMMD spokespeople on Monday.
