The Ministry of Agriculture calls on the agricultural sector to voluntarily discontinue the us of phyto-pharmaceutical products, particularly glyphosate.
Following the confirmation of a recent verdict by the Administrative Court, the pesticide could theoretically be sold and used again.
On Tuesday evening, the Ministry of Agriculture released a statement pledging financial assistance for farmers who continue to avoid using glyphosate even after the ruling.
Farmers will be able to activate the so-called 'Eco-Régime', which compensates them for losses caused by not using these types of products, among other things. In order to receive the compensation of €70 per hectare, farmers have to forego so-called "big movers," which comprise several other active compounds besides glyphosate.

In addition, there are subsidies ranging from €150 to €750 per hectare that depend on the type of cultivation. Winemakers who refrain from using herbicides may apply for compensations of up to €780 per hectare.
