Erny Schumacher was at the helm of the Association of Private Winegrowers for 28 years. He will be succeeded by not one, but two new presidents.
Guy Krier and Jeff Konsbruck will succeed Erny Schumacher, the long-serving president of the Association of Private Winegrowers.
Krier took over his parents' winery in 1993. He manages one of the Moselle's largest organic wineries, producing organic wine and crémant on 14 hectares. He has been vice-president of the Association of Private Winegrowers for ten years but has already announced that he will only serve as co-president for four years.
Jeff Konsbruck, on the other hand, is relatively new to the business. His parents owned vineyards but sold the grapes to a producer. Konsbruck opened a new winery in 2013 and now makes his own wine. To promote Luxembourgish wine even better in the future, Konsbruck wants to expand on concepts that have worked well in the past. He also believes that in the future, winemakers must focus more on exports and think about how to reach out to the international communities in Luxembourg. "While Luxembourgish customers know, buy, and drink wine from the Moselle, many expats still need to be convinced," Konsbruck said.
