The remaining pandemic restrictions were officially lifted over the weekend. This means that even hospitals and care homes are without measures, however, that does not meant that people are no longer advised to wear a mask if they are sick.

According to Claude Braun, medical director of the Robert Schuman Hospitals (HRS), people with respiratory issues and suspected Covid infections should absolutely put on a mask. This goes as much for patients as for visitors and members of the hospital staff.

Dr Martine Goergen from the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg (CHL) has meanwhile explained that systematic PCR tests will no longer be carried out, only patients with Covid symptoms will be tested. Anja Di Bartolomeo from the Centre Hospitalier du Nord (CHdN) also confirmed this approach.

Should a patient display symptoms and a test confirms the infection, then the patient will be isolated for a five-day period. The isolation will be abandoned once all symptoms have disappeared, said Dr Goergen.

While the CHL, the HRS, and the Emile Mayrisch Hospital have all dropped their visitor limitations, the CHdN continues to only allow a maximum of two visitors per patient per day. Nevertheless, all visitors are still recommended to wear a mask or better stay home in case of an illness.

The senior and care homes operated by Servior no longer have any measures. "Covid is being treated like any other virus", said Servior spokesperson Nathalie Hank. She stressed that staff have always been cautious in case of circulating infections. Covid patients are however no longer isolated and masks are no longer mandated.
