Chamber of DeputiesWhich MPs had the highest attendance rate in the past three years?

RTL Today
The Chamber's attendance lists of the past three years are publicly available and reveal that a majority of MPs attended more than 90% of Chamber sessions. But who has the highest attendance rate and who missed most sessions?

The Chamber’s attendance lists from July 2019 to December 2022 are publicly available at data.public.lu. They reveal that a majority of MPs attended more than 90% of Chamber sessions. However, one MP stands out for having missed significantly more than others, while other representatives have perfect attendance.

MPs André Bauler and Claude Lamberty from the Democratic Party (DP), their faction leader Gilles Baum, and Greens faction leader Josée Lorsché attended all 234 sessions of the period in question. MP Mars di Bartolomeo from the Luxembourg Socialist Workers’ Party (LSAP) missed just three sessions, for good reason, as he completed external missions for the Chamber during his absence.

In general, members of the majority parties slightly beat those from the opposition in terms of attendance, 96% versus 94%.

Elected officials from the Pirate Party have the highest combined attendance rate, mostly missing sessions due to external Chamber missions. MP Sven Clement was absent on thirteen such occasions.

DP members follow closely behind, with an attendance rate of 98.4%. Both representatives from the Left attended 97.4% of sessions since taking office.

The Alternative Democratic Reform Party (ADR) has the lowest attendance rate, coming in at 88%. This is mostly due to MP Roy Reding, who drags down the party’s average having only attended 63% of sessions between July 2019 and December 2022.

This puts MP Reding 30 points below average and far behind MPs Eischen and Wolter from the Christian Social People’s Party (CSV), who also missed close to a fifth of Chamber sessions. Furthermore, MP Reding and the DP’s MP Lydie Polfer are among the MPs who have missed sessions without an official excuse, four times in the case of Reding, twice in the case of the Luxembourg City Mayor.

Chamber president Fernand Etgen from the Democratic Party has missed just two sessions in the past three and a half years.

It should be noted that the statistics in question do not specify how long MPs stayed in the Chamber of Deputies on each occasion.
