At present, the Iranian government is reviewing the death sentences of some 12 prisoners, following their involvement in protests.
One of the young prisoners in question has appealed his sentence, according to sources in Tehran. He was initially accused of “waging war against God”, which is punishable by death in accordance with Sharia law. He was further accused of using a knife to threaten others during the protests.
