While police were able to catch two burglars in Esch-sur-Alzette, they failed to locate a suspect after an attempted break-in in Cents.
Friday night, two break-ins occurred in bars in Esch-sur-Alzette. In both cases, burglars stole the cash register and damaged gaming machines. Over the course of the respective investigation, police managed to identify two suspects. The prosecutor's office commissioned searches of both their apartments, during which authorities located the stolen objects. Both men were arrested by order of the prosecutor's office and presented to an examining magistrate on Sunday.
An attempted burglary war reported in Cents. The perpetrator escaped before police arrived at the scene and a subsequent search for a suspect was futile despite aerial support from a police helicopter. An investigation is underway.
On Saturday, a person also filed a complaint with the police after falling victim to a phishing attempt. The victim had received a message that promised money in exchange for bank details. However, the promised sum was never transferred, instead, a four-digit amount was wired from the victim's account.
