"The Economic Committee has no information regarding potential redundancies at Amazon in Luxembourg," according to Minister of the Economy Franz Fayot.

Fayot made the statement in response to a parliamentary question by MP Marc Goergen from the Pirate Party. Upon enquiry, Amazon Luxembourg confirmed that so far, no layoffs have been announced for the company's branch in the Grand Duchy. Further information will not be available until next year, according to Amazon.

In the US, media reports indicate that Amazon is planning to slash 10,000 jobs. While information obtained by RTL previously suggested that Amazon Luxembourg had stopped hiring new workers, the company itself partially denies this, stating that it has merely "restricted" its recruitment. Amazon further points out that this is not just the case in Luxembourg, but worldwide. With almost 4,000 employees in Luxembourg, Amazon is one of the top five employers in the country.
