RTL Today - In the style of WhatsApp: Luxembourg to launch own instant messaging service 'Luxchat'

On Wednesday, Minister Delegate for Digitalisation Marc Hansen announced the launch of 'Luxchat'.

Minister Delegate for Digitalisation Marc Hansen unveiled the new messaging service on the second day of the Luxembourg Internet Days 2022. The software was created and is administered entirely in Luxembourg. According to the Minister, this has the advantage of ensuring the security of data shared over the service.

The app is set to be released in the coming months. The service will initially be restricted to civil servants, but it will eventually be made available to everyone.

In addition the new "E-Wallet" will be available soon as well. Residents will be able to save documents such as IDs and driving licences in this digital wallet.
