In the second quarter of 2022, the country had 471,502 employees. That is an increase of 3,769 people in three months. Over the course of a year, the increase was 3.6%. In total, the country now has 251,124 resident employees and 220,641 cross-border workers.
The number of cross-border workers increased at a faster rate than the number of residents (+1.2% compared to the previous quarter, compared to +0.6% for residents). In addition, the number of non-EU residents increased by 14.7% over one year (compared to 1.4% for Luxembourgish residents).
Specialised activities and support services (+1.4%) as well as information and communication activities (+1.2%) showed the largest increases.
Administration and other public services are also sectors showing strong growth (+3.9% over one year).
