Since 2012, the post office, which is a public establishment and belongs entirely to the state, has to a large extent hired people through contracts classified as “Salariéen” or “employees,” as opposed to “fonctionnaire”, regardless of the content of the position in question. For more than 500 people concerned, that means lower salaries and slower career development, as the two classifications carry with them different payment regimes and career development structures.
According to the CGFP, the post has thus not respected the relevant employment laws for over 10 years. It blamed several people for these developments, including Post director general Claude Strasser, chairman of the board Serge Allegrezza, and Minister of the Economy Franz Fayot. Former Post minister Etienne Schneider was also to blame, according to CGFP.
The CGDP have called for Post Luxembourg’s actions to change.
