Initial reports said the suspect, a 25-year-old man, had beaten his wife to death with a hammer.
The victim was just 20 years old.
According to the public prosecutor’s office, the alleged perpetrator was arrested and brought before magistrates on Tuesday afternoon.
Child services have also been engaged as the couple’s five-month-old baby was in the apartment at the time of the incident. The child has since been taken into protective custody.
Authorities have opened a judicial investigation and an autopsy has been ordered. The judicial police will take charge of the investigation.
