A recent Eurostat survey revealed that Luxembourgers are among the happiest citizens in the EU. A lot of readers expressed scepticism, but what is good about living in Luxembourg?
The survey found that Luxembourgers have among the highest self-reported level of life satisfaction among all EU citizens.
In particular, Luxembourg ranked highly for material life conditions and financial satisfaction, while its citizens are the richest in the Union.
Life expectancy is also above the European average, while the scores were lower for social relations and the share of people who have someone to rely on in case of need.
Readers' responses were largely negative. One reader wrote that they must be 'the minority unhappy person', while others suggested that Luxembourgers are only happy because they are 'collecting money' from expats.
Readers also criticised the low standards of cleanliness in parts of the capital, and suggested that while citizens may be happy, non-Luxembourg-nationals who are resident in the country face particularly high housing costs.
It's clear from your comments that Luxembourg isn't a utopia. But what do you think is good about the Grand Duchy? It could be something that applies to the whole nation, a welcoming attitude to strangers, perhaps? Or something personal in your life: there's a great restaurant down the road, for example.
