On Friday afternoon, the Luxembourg weather service Meteolux shared a sweltering forecast for next week on their Twitter page.

There is a strong possibility that next Tuesday will see record high temperatures for Luxembourg, Meteolux warned.

The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) has predicted temperatures ranging from 35°C to 37°C, with some southern parts of the country expected to reach up to 39°C at points on Tuesday.

The highest temperature to date was recorded in the Grand Duchy on 25 July 2019, when temperatures reached 39°C.

It is feasible we could see another record next week, with a potential red alert weather warning on the horizon. This is usually the case when temperatures exceed 35°C, if the previous day's average reached a minimum of 23°C.
