To protect nesting birds and other wild animals, forest users need to follow certain rules.

Spring is nesting and breeding time for many animals in our forests. From 1 March to 15 April, there is a so-called "forest rest time" in our country, during which hunts are nearly completely banned. Breeding season for wild boars, deer and rabbits lasts from March to mid-June.

Leisure activities in our forests are of course still permitted during that time, but users should be particularly mindful. Dogs should be kept in control, ideally on lead. Hikers, joggers and cyclists should remain on paths at all times.

A new law from 11 March allows forest rangers to issue fines of up to 250 Euros if they deem that rules have been broken. A reminder, too, that if your dog attacks a wild animal, it is the owner who is at fault.
