The Chamber's petition commission has approved twelve new proposals, which people can sign online until 9 May.
If a petition crosses the threshold of 4,500 signatures, the authors receive an invitation to present and debate their proposal in the Chamber of Deputies.
The recent wave of new proposals is concerned with a variety of issues, including the rise in energy prices. One petition wants to introduce synthetic petrol at gas stations, while another wants to significantly reduce the VAT on petrol. One petition arguing for a limit on gas prices, which was launched at the beginning of March, has in the meantime gathered 97% of the necessary signatures.
A variety of other themes are also present, from one petition calling for a four-day work week with Wednesday a labour-free day, to another demanding the reintroduction of military service.
Covid has also remained in the spotlight, as one petitioner argues that the mask mandate on public transportation should be abolished.
All new and running petitions can be found on this website from the Chamber of Deputies.
