Even though advertising activities were still affected by the pandemic last year, the sector recorded an overall increase in revenue.

In 2021, the national advertising sector generated €131 million in revenue from cinemas, newspapers, television, Internet, radio, and flyers. This represents a plus of close to €8 million, or 6.2%, compared to the previous year. Looking abroad, the advertising industry produced even larger win margins in Belgium (15%), Germany (7%), and France (13%) last year.

In Luxembourg, newspaper ads saw the highest investment last year, followed by Internet and radio. Most ads were made for service offers, culture, sport, and leisure activities.

In 2021, the top top five commissioners for ads here in the Grand Duchy were the government, followed by Cactus, Post Group, Aldi, and Spuerkees.
