The major construction project to widen the A3 motorway between Luxembourg and France begins this Saturday evening. Traffic will be heavily impacted. Border residents will have to be patient for five years.
The roads administration confirmed this Tuesday that, as part of the work to widen the A3 motorway, construction work will begin on Saturday at 8pm after having been postponed several times.
Initially, the work will focus on the section of the motorway between the Gasperich junction and the Livange interchange in the direction of Metz.
Traffic will be reduced to two lanes, and the hard shoulder will be removed to create more room.
To ensure the safety of the workers but also of motorists, the speed will be limited to 70 km/h on the section concerned.
Although the road administration wants to guarantee two lanes of traffic, it warns that occasional roadblocks will be necessary.
