At the start of 2022, Luxembourg counted 439,837 car registrations, some 6,800 more than 12 months before.

Luxembourg's obsession with vehicles shows no signs of abating, and despite concerns over the climate crisis, just 2% of cars registered in Luxembourg are purely electric.

4% of the cars on the Duchy's roads are hybrids, while virtually every second car in the country runs on diesel.

German brands dominate the vehicle market, with Volkswagen (14%), BMW (10.4%), Mercedes (9%) and Audi (8,6%) all increasing their market share. Together they make up 42% of all cars registered in Luxembourg. Renault is the first non-German brand in the top ten, in fifth place with 5.3% of the market.
