From 3 January, fully vaccinated individuals in Luxembourg may receive their Covid booster four months after their last dose, instead of the previously communicated six months.

A new pop-up vaccination centre is also opening at Gare Centrale as the government encourages people to get their boosters.

Covid-19 Booster Eligibility

Starting today, 3 January, fully vaccinated individuals may receive their Covid booster four months after their last dose, instead of the previously communicated 6 months.

This applies to individuals who have received two doses of either Moderna or BioNTech/Pfizer, as well as those who have mixed and matched a first dose of AstraZeneca and a second dose of an mRNA vaccine.

Here's a breakdown of the specific categories:

  • Individuals who have received two doses of Moderna or BioNTech/Pfizer OR a first dose of AstraZeneca and a second dose of an mRNA vaccine (also known as Mix & Match), are eligible for a vaccine booster four months after their second jab.

  • Individuals who have received two doses of AstraZeneca are eligible for a vaccine booster four months after their second jab.

  • Individuals who received a single dose vaccine from Johnson & Johnson are eligible for an mRNA booster one month after their first jab.

It's important to remember that since 1 December, appointments are required for booster jabs at the following centres: Victor Hugo (provisionally at Luxexpo since 3 January), Esch-Belval, Ettelbruck, Findel (LAR) and Luxembourg-Kirchberg (Luxexpo).

Individuals who are due for their booster will receive an official invitation from the government with instructions on how to take an appointment in one of the above centres or through their GP's surgery. To help reduce wait times, it is recommended that individuals wait to receive their invitation in the post before attempting to take an appointment.

Luxembourgish residents who were vaccinated elsewhere than the Grand Duchy are invited to present themselves without an appointment at any of the vaccination centres for their booster.

Equally, a hotline is available for those who may require personal assistance or additional information regarding their vaccination situation. The hotline can be reached at (+352) 247-65533.

Pop-Up Vaccination Centre Gare Centrale

The vaccination pop-up in Luxembourg City Centre, which closed its doors on 31 December, will reopen at Gare Centrale on 6 January.

The pop-up will be receiving patients Monday through Friday from 10am to 4pm.

To avoid long wait times, individuals are encouraged to wait for their official booster invitation to arrive via the post.
