ArcelorMittal and Enovos present a floating photovoltaic power plant in a basin used to cool high furnaces in an ancient steel site.

The old cooling basin measures 60,000 square meters. 25,000 of those are now covered by 6,700 solar panels generating renewable energy.

The installation took 6 months and is a first in Luxembourg: a floating solar energy plant that will contribute to Luxembourg's renewable energies, 15% of which are produced in the country.

The plant can produce 3 gigawatt hours per year and can cover the energy needs of around 800 households of four people. Large installations such as this one are a big step forward in terms of climate protection, says Enovos.
