Guy Pettinger had previously announced that he wanted to resign as mayor of Steinfort. Sammy Wagner has now been confirmed as his successor.

At its meeting on Thursday, the Steinfort municipal council decided on a possible candidate for the post.

34-year-old Sammy Wagner, a physics teacher and member of the municipal executive for the Luxembourg Socialist Workers' Party (LSAP), will be proposed to the Grand Duke as mayor.

As a result of this appointment, a position in the municipal executive will also have to be filled. In a statement published on Friday morning, the LSAP section of Steinfort announced that the 53-year-old bank employee Marianne Dublin-Felten will succeed Sammy Wagner.
