The new building was set to be completed in 2024, but the current situation looks as though this may be extended.

According to d'Lëtzebuerger Land, the delays have been confirmed by a source at the steel group, as well as the government. High-level negotiations are ongoing between the government and ArcelorMittal, although neither has revealed their position publicly. There is also no information on whether the project will be revised in accordance.

The 61,000 square-metre project, planned by Parisian architect group Jean-Michel Wilmotte, was designed to provide a new headquarters for the steel group in Kirchberg, after they sold their historical seat on Avenue de la Liberté to the Spuerkees.

The project envisaged a sustainable steel construction, clad completely with glass. The steel would be able to be recycled for any potential new constructions at a later date.
