
While flights were down in Luxembourg, commercial air traffic remained higher than the EU average, which was down 31% on August 2019.

The countries with the lowest decreases in commercial flights in August 2021 were Greece (down 7%), Romania (down 18%) and Croatia (down 22%).

At the other end of the spectrum, flights in Slovenia were down 53.5%, Ireland 54.5%, and Finland 60%.
In total, across the bloc, the number of commercial flights stood at 479,000 in August 2021, compared with 325,000 in August 2020 and 696,000 in August 2019.
