Unfortunately, the number of pupils who need to repeat exams has continuously been growing over the past couple of years.
This year, the overall tally for successful exams is set at 76%. Last year, the rate was 83%. Minister of Education Claude Meisch noted that the global health crisis had certainly played a role in making this year's exams particularly difficult for pupils.
In the "Lycées classiques", the success rate remained relatively stable at 85%, while in the "Lycées générales", the number decreased to 69%.
A total of 3,350 students took their final exams this year, out of which 2,560 received a diploma. 14% have to retake at least one exam, while 9% failed their year. 169 students finished their final year with honours.
When it comes to gender differences, young women still have the better results in classic education, while there is no significant difference in general education.
