The analyses carried out by the National Health Laboratory show that the Delta variant (formerly known as the Indian variant) is the most widespread in Luxembourg.
During the week of 14 to 20 June, it was detected in 59.4 percent of the samples analysed.
In contrast, the frequency of the B.1.1.7 variant (Alpha variant, ex-English variant) dropped to 29.7%. One case of SARS-CoV-2 B.1.351 (Beta, South African) and no cases of the P.1 variant (Gamma, Brazilian) were detected.
According to the LNS, 66.7% of all positive cases in Luxembourg were sequenced.
