Prior to Ascension serviceBissen church choir outraged after unknown person called the police on them

RTL Today
A rather peculiar incident occurred at the local church in Bissen on Wednesday evening.

Shortly before the start of the Ascension service, a number of police officers entered the church and explained that they wanted to check whether the choir was complying with Covid-19 measures. As this turned out to be the case, the officers quickly left the church again.

The members of the choir were, however, rather outraged that someone had called the police. So outraged in fact, that they decided not to perform at all and leave the church.

The choir members suspect the local priest or someone close to him to be behind the awkward visit. However, Bissen’s parish priest has formally denied being the one who had called the police. The diocese has confirmed this denial to RTL upon enquiry.

Nevertheless, the choir does not want to leave it there and intends to write a letter to Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich.
