A police patrol finally identified the vehicle and its three passengers near the Aire de Berchem in the direction of Luxembourg City. The car drove significantly above the speed limit while trying to avoid the police. After losing sight of the car for a brief period, the police found them anew near the Cessange intersection on the A3 motorway. The driver continued speeding, until he eventually lost control.
The car collided with another vehicle and thrust both of them against the crash barrier. The three people inside the fugitive car remained all unharmed and were thus detained by the police. Officers found an airgun inside the vehicle. A short investigation revealed that the vehicle in question, which is registered in France, used Luxembourgish number plates that were caught during the prior evening. Further reports came in, which noted that the passengers of the car were already seen stealing petrol at a Dudelange gas station. On top of that, the driver was already serving a ban.
The police confiscated the vehicle and fined the driver by order of the prosecutor’s office. The passenger of the other car involved in the accident suffered minor injuries and was brought to a hospital.
