InfrastructureRailway system between Mecher and Drauffelt to be modernised
During the first week of the Easter holidays, a total of 14.1 kilometres of rails were installed, thus launching the modernisation project.
New rails were installed in both directions between Mecher and Drauffelt. Parts formerly made of wood were replaced with concrete structures due to their longer life expectancy. Isolated parts of the northern railway system still go back to the year 1980.
Railway works are usually conducted during times with lower passenger frequencies, such as school holiday periods.
