The terraces of the capital's cafés and restaurants were fully booked by midday, as customers took advantage of the mild weather on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Xavier Bettel called it "a breath of fresh air" when he announced the reopening of the country's café and restaurant terraces. A breath of fresh air for both business owners and customers. On Tuesday, many people were enjoying the first signs of spring at midday.
Since 7 April, terraces in Luxembourg have been open to customers again.
However, drinks and food are only served until 6 pm and there are strict measures in place: only two people can sit at the same table, except if they are all part of one household.
The Prime Minister called the measure "a small step towards normality", as Covid-19 infections seem to have plateaued in the Grand Duchy.
The new Covid-19 bill, which was deposited on Friday, provides some clarification on the opening of terraces, now defining a terrace as "open on at least three sides".
In detail, the new version of the text stipulates that a terrace is a "space outside and in the open air, open on at least three sides in order to allow the free circulation of air and the natural ventilation of the space".
