The UK variant is now the source of around three quarters of all coronavirus infections in Luxembourg.

The National Health Laboratory (LNS) continues to sequence Covid-19 samples and during the 12th calendar week of 2021, it was determined that the B.1.1.7 variant, which was first discovered in the UK, continues to be the cause of most infections in the Grand Duchy as it accounts for 73.5% of all sequenced cases.

The LNS also confirmed in its statement published on Thursday that the South African variant is at the origin of 18.4% of all cases.

The state lab analysed a total of 689 samples over the course of that particular week.
