FELSEA, the Luxembourg Federation of Education and Childcare Services, urges Minister of Education Claude Meisch to listen to their concerns.

In a press release published on Thursday, the FELSEA, which brings together managers of private crèches, deplores the fact that although they are open, they are rarely full.

The Federation accuses the state of providing insufficient and unequal support to these structures.

Private crèches demand that they be considered like all other sectors and allowed to participate in negotiations instead of being subjected to decisions taken at the last minute. Several letters have already been sent to the Minister but have remained unanswered to date.

FELSEA further criticises that private crèches are the only sector that cannot benefit from short time working. For this reason, an appeal is being made to the government to work together and find options to support the facilities and their employees in order to guarantee adequate childcare.
