Martine Hansen, head of the CSV parliamentary group, spoke out in an RTL interview on Wednesday morning.
She said that CSV MPs only found out about Frank Engel's contract at the general assembly of "CSV-Frëndeskreess asbl" last week.
In the interest of the party, the deputies sought to avoid reacting too rashly.
They therefore asked for independent legal advice, which was very clear: the MPs had no choice but to report the affair to the public prosecutor.
For Hansen, this isn't a matter of political machinations, but of facts and transparency. While it might be a painful matter, keeping these things under wraps would be worse in the long term, she explained.
Hansen stressed that it was important now to draw a line under the matter, as there are enough other problems to deal with.
