A second national women's strike has been called on 8 March to mark International Women's Day.

Due to the pandemic, most activities have to be held in digital format, but a collective march will take place to mark the event.

On Thursday, activists announced their focal points for this year's edition of the event: shortening work hours at full salary rates, equal salary rights, and providing better access to social housing for everyone.

The protest march organised for the event will start in front of the Gare, and finish on Place d'Armes in the city centre.

Activists also demand that parental leave be reformed so that fathers have equally long leave periods as mothers. They also want a revision of the official name, since the phrasing currently discriminates against homosexual couples.

In a recent meeting, Minister of Labour, Employment and the Social and Solidarity Economy Dan Kersch acknowledged the problem and promised to look for a solution.
