The suspension will be in effect for 15 days and handed down to her after three of her former assistants filed complaints last year.

The DP politician will thus not be allowed to participate in any parliamentary meetings and will not receive her daily allowances for the period of 15 days.

During a session on Monday, parliamentary president David Sassoli stated that the accusations were found to be legitimate, leading to the suspension.

Semedo has since released a statement in which she acknowledges her actions and announced not to appeal the decision. She regrets the tensions she created in her former team, three members of which left together last year. She further states that since reorganising her team last March, the "professional relationship with her assistants has been excellent".
