The municipality has thus taken another step towards reducing its CO2 emissions. The plan is to fully rely on electric busses by 2030.

The presentation of the new vehicles took place on Tuesday at the Place Guillaume II. The municipality currently has 31 routes across the 24 city quarters, out which 2 are now completely driven by electric buses, lines 9 and 14.

The buses connect Cents with Hamm and Cessange respectively. They can be recharged both at the “Waassertuerm” stop, or at the municipal bus depot. The vehicles allow for an average of 440,000 litres of diesel to be saved annually, which equals 1,200 tons of CO2 emissions. Each bus can drive up to 200 km before having to recharge.
The entire fleet is thus to be replaced with electric buses by 2030. Currently, the city bus fleet drives around 14 million kilometres annually.
