New photos were taken on Friday evening, reflecting what Luxembourg’s police have been facing on a daily basis since the new restrictions came into force. This includes people sitting on the capital’s benches to eat fast food, others who gather without masks, and even some who consume alcohol together and leave their bottles and rubbish behind.

The authorities also had to intervene to disperse partygoers who wanted to continue their evening in the streets of the capital, as shown in these images taken by one of our photographers. According to information by RTL.lu, the police even made an arrest on Friday evening. However, the reasons behind the arrest remain unclear.

The images show a recurring issue over the past days: despite the closure of restaurants and cafés, gatherings continue to take place across the country. And while take-away food and deliveries remain possible, not being able to sit at a table does not always make it easier for those who want to use them. Such behaviour raises the question of the effectiveness of the new measures, but if the figures are anything to go by, it does seem that there has been a drop in the number of infections in recent days.
